May Peace Be Upon You

Construction of the Community Center Masjid:
The pictures below show the progression in construction of the Community Center Masjid.  Ground-breaking began in April 2019 and a certificate of occupation was issued on April 21, 2023. Delays in completion were caused by legal proceedings and financial challenges.

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah:

Welcome to the Upper Cumberland Islamic Society website.

The Upper Cumberland Islamic Society, UCIS, is a non-profit organization, which strives to serve the religious, educational, and social needs of Muslims in Cookeville and the surrounding areas. It further seeks to reach out to and engage in beneficial dialog with our non-Muslim neighbors.

In April of 2023, the organization fulfilled a long time goal of establishing a religious center in Cookeville.  The community center masjid is situated on commercial property located at 323 N. Walnut Avenue, near downtown Cookeville.  At the present time, we are concentrating on providing basic services. These include:

Jumah Salat
Jumah Salat is offered every Friday, at 1:00 pm Central Time. Inshallah.

Daily Salat
We are still transitioning into the new building.  The goal is ultimately to conduct all five daily Salat in the community center masjid. Be patient as we transition.

Special Salat
Two of the most highly valued Salat in Islam are the Eid Prayers: Eidul Fitr (following the fast of Ramadan) and Eidul Adha (during the month of Hajj- Dhul Hijjah).  The Cookeville Muslim community has consistently observed these over the years, and have intentions to continue to do so going forth.

Sunday School
The community conducts a Sunday school where students are introduced to Arabic language, Qur’anic recitation, and  Islamic Civilization. More information on this will be made available in the future.

Support of the UCIS is essential to furthering the cause of Islam in Cookeville and the Upper Cumberland.  You may donate in several ways: 1) by check or money order, 2) by PayPal, or 3) bank transfer.  If you wish to donate, go to the donations page and follow the instructions.

Jazakum Allah Khair.
